Thinking of You

Here's my card for this week's Viva la Verve sketch.  It's also my entry for the current Card Concept floral themed challenge.  My card fits in the clean and layered design category.

Thinking of You-designed by Lori Tecler-Inking Aloud-stamps from Verve StampsI used the colors from the VLV inspiration photo as my starting point for my card.  I stamped the poppy image from Verve's Poppy Birthday set in pink and black pigment inks, then die cut the image.  It's adhered to a white pierced circle die cut stamped with the "thinking of you" sentiment from the Treasured Words set. I tucked a pair of bright green leaves, made with the help of a circle punch, underneath the poppy to bring in a pop of green like in the inspiration photo.

I adhered the image and sentiment over a bold black and white houndstooth panel and, in a nod to the mirrors in the inspiration photo, a strip of shimmery silver paper arranged on a black panel.  A pink fishtail flag strip extending out from underneath the sentiment panel breaks up the black and white a bit The finished panel is adhered to a white card base.

Materials Used:
Poppy Birthday and Treasured Words stamp sets, Build a Poppy dies (Verve Stamps); Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); Melon Mambo and Basic Black cardstock (Stampin' Up!); New Leaf cardstock (Papertrey Ink); silver paper (Target); Lola and Luca paper pad (The Paper Studio); Die-namics Pierced Circle Stax and Fishtail Flag Stax dies (My Favorite Things); circle punch (EK Success); foam tape
