Trendy Birthday

I put together this bold, celebratory card for this week's WPlus9 anniversary challenge to incorporate trends in your design.  I squeezed in two trends here--metallic and sequins.

Happy Birthday-designed by Lori Tecler-Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from WPlus9My card uses the new Whole Lotta' Happy stamp set and coordinating Whole Lotta' Happy dies.  The "happy birthday" sentiment is stamped in metallic silver ink on a white panel.  I die cut a pair of  balloons to set next to the sentiment and arranged them on the panel, then added black twine strings to them.  A few silver sequins were arranged around the balloons for even more sparkle.

The bottom of the panel is covered with a piece of red embossed cardstock.  I adhered a narrow strip of silver paper at the top of the embossed panel to set it off from the rest of the design.  The finished panel was adhered to a black card base.  I love the mixing of the classic black, white, and red color scheme with the trendy metallic accents!

Materials Used:
from i {heart} papers:  WPlus9 Whole Lotta' Happy stamp set and Whole Lotta' Happy dies, Lifestyle Crafts Jubilant embossing folder, Hemptique black twine, silver sequins, Sticky Thumb dimensional dots

other:  Real Red and Basic Black cardstock (Stampin' Up!); white cardstock (Michaels); silver paper (Target); Encore Silver ink (Tsukineko)
