Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge 211-Hello Sunshine

It’s time for another Sweet Sunday Sketch Challenge! This week’s sketch called for a square card—and I actually made my card a square this time. I usually don’t make square cards (or other non-A2 sized cards) since a lot of my cards end up going to Operation Write Home and that’s not a shape that they accept.  But, I made an exception for this one, which ended up being a 5" square card.

Hello Sunshine-designed by Lori Tecler-Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Lawn Fawn
I started off with a piece of cloud patterned paper. The patterned paper was matted on navy cardstock to add a narrow border, then adhered to a coordinating turquoise panel.

I cut a piece of lighter blue cardstock for the sentiment strip that runs across the bottom of the patterned paper panel. I combined stamped and die cut words to create the sentiment.  To add dimension, I cut the word "hello" multiple times using the Lawn Fawn Scripty Hello die, once from yellow cardstock, then several more times from scrap cardstock.  I stacked the die cut pieces and glued them together, then adhered them to the sentiment panel.  The word "sunshine" from Lawn Fawn's Hello Sunshine stamp set was stamped in the space beneath the die cut word using teal ink.

Instead of using a round panel behind the sentiment strip, I die cut a yellow sun using Lawn Fawn’s Spring Showers die. After adhering a striped patterned paper circle to the center, I tucked the sun behind the sentiment panel. I added a few white sequins as an accent.

To play along, just create a card based on the sketch and link it up on Karen’s blog. For lots of inspiration be sure to check out what the other Sweet Sunday Sketch stampers have created for you this week. Here’s where to find them:
