Celebrate New Beginnings

Here’s my card for the current Card Concept challenge to use butterflies on your creation. I made a card in the clean and layered style based on the current Deconstructed Sketch.

Celebrate New Beginnings-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Lil' Inker Designs
I started off by picking the papers I wanted to use for my card. Once I selected the bold rainbow-style striped paper from the Doodlebug Designs Springtime collection, everything came together quickly. I used the rainbow paper for the card’s two vertical panels. I matted them on green cardstock, then adhered them to a pale blue panel. I used the same green paper to cut a stitched scalloped strip to layer across the cardfront, then added the stitched circle sentiment panel on top.

I stamped the “celebrate new beginnings” sentiment from the Lil’ Inker Designs Spring Sentiments set on the round panel in green ink. The panel was topped with a layered stitched butterfly. The top layer was cut from vellum and attached to the yellow cardstock butterfly only at the center so I could fold the wings back up to give the butterfly dimension and the illusion of motion. I finished the design with a trio of blue enamel dots.

Materials Used:
Spring Sentiments stamp set, Stitched Scallop Border, Stitched Butterflies, and Stitched Circle dies (Lil’ Inker Designs); Memento Luxe Pear Tart ink (Tsukineko); Lake House cardstock (WPlus9); Simply Chartreuse and Harvest Gold cardstock (Papertrey Ink); white cardstock (Michaels); Springtime 6x6 paper pad (Doodlebug Design); blue enamel dots (Michaels)
