Mother's Day Muse
Here's my card for this week's Muse challenge. I was inspired by the soft lines of the white embossing and the watercolored panel on Marion's card.
For my version, I stamped the flowers from the Simon Says Stamps Best Mom Ever set several times on a square of watercolor paper, then heat embossed the images. Once I'd finished embossing the flowers, I went back and masked them with sticky notes so I could add in a few leaves to fill in the panel a bit.
I watercolored the panel using distress markers, an aquapainter (which bit the dust mid-painting . . .), and a paint brush. My watercoloring definitely needs some work. I may just be signing up for the upcoming watercoloring class at Online Stamping Classes for a little help with this . . . I went with a more feminine color scheme, but I think I still got the look of bold blooms like the ones in the Muse card. It doesn't show in the photo, but I gave the panel a light coating of shimmer spray for a pretty, subtle sparkle. I matted the finished panel on a piece of bold green cardstock, then used foam tape to adhere it to a white card base. The set's "Happy Mother's Day" sentiment was stamped just beneath the image panel in red ink to coordinate with the color of the flowers.
Materials Used:
Best Mom Ever stamp set (Simon Says Stamp); white cardstock, white embossing powder (Michaels); Limeade Ice cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Whip Cream ink (My Favorite Things); Memento Luxe Love Letter ink, Frost shimmer spray (Tsukineko); distress markers (Ranger); foam tape
