You Are My Sunshine
Here's my card for this week's Muse challenge. I was inspired by Therese's layout and her card's gradient stenciled background.
Instead of using different shades of the same color for my background, I went with warm shades of pink, orange, and yellow. I used a dotted stencil and ink applicator on a piece of white cardstock, overlapping the colors just a bit for a smooth transition.
I stamped the "you are my sunshine" sentiment from the Lil' Inker Designs Sun Sentiments stamp set directly on my stenciled panel in black ink. I added a die cut sun next to the sentiment. The center of the sun is filled in with a tiny yellow circle with a dot embossed pattern, matching the background's dotted pattern. I went back and forth about whether or not to add the felt cloud over the sun, but in the end, decided I liked the texture from the felt. After edging the panel with narrow strips of dark pink cardstock, I adhered it to a white card base. A trio of gold sequins around the sentiment completes the design.
Materials Used:
Sun Sentiments stamp set, stitched sun and cloud dies (Lil' Inker Designs); Scattered Straw, Worn Lipstick, and Dried Marigold distress inks (Ranger); white cardstock, white felt, gold sequins (Michaels); Pink Passion cardstock (Stampin' Up!); dotted stencil (Heidi Swapp); Spotted embossing folder (Lifestyle Crafts)
