Hello Friend
Here’s a bold and bright card inspired by both the current Fusion challenge and the current Deconstructed Sketch. I used the multicolored chevron elements from the Fusion inspiration photo along with the Deconstructed Sketch. Usually I try to combine both the inspiration photo and the sketch from the Fusion challenge, but I really liked how the panels in the Deconstructed Sketch layout mirrored the shape of chevrons.
At first, I was puzzled about how to cut the two panels that run down the center of the cardfront. Once I realized that it would be easy to do using a fishtail flag die, the card came together pretty quickly. I picked a multicolored chevron patterned paper for the panel, cut it with the die to form the long panel, then trimmed down the remains of the patterned paper to get the smaller panel. The patterned panels are matted with turquoise cardstock pieces cut using the same technique.
The sentiment is from the Winnie and Walter The Big, the Bold, and the Happy stamp set. I heat embossed “hello friend” in turquoise on a white stitched rectangle panel. After matting the panel with turquoise cardstock, I layered it on top of the chevron patterned strip. It’s accented with a shiny gold star and a pair of smaller fishtail flag strips. A few gold sequins add a final touch of sparkle to the design to match the star.
Materials Used:
The Big, the Bold, and the Happy stamp set (Winnie and Walter); white cardstock, Glacier embossing powder (Michaels); Simply Chartreuse and Hawaiian Shores cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Day to Day 6x6 paper pad (Doodlebug Design); gold paper (Target); stitched rectangle and stitched star dies (Lil’ Inker Designs); Die-namics Fishtail Flag Stax and Fishtail Flag Layers Stax dies (My Favorite Things); foam tape
