You Float my Boat

The current challenge at The Card Concept is to use a nautical theme, so I put together this clean and layered design for the challenge. The image I used is part of a stamp set intended for Valentine’s Day, but it was a perfect fit for the challenge!

You Float my Boat card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Papertrey Ink
I used the sailboat from Papertrey Ink’s Tremendous Treats: Valentine stamp set as my focal image. The boat shape was die cut from white cardstock, then stamped with the matching image and colored with Copic markers. I adhered the boat to a panel of light blue dotted patterned paper. After edging the patterned paper with a strip of red cardstock, I adhered it to a kraft card base. I added a blue die cut strip of wavy water beneath it, anchoring it with some grid patterned washi tape.

To go with the card’s love theme, I attached a red die cut heart above the sailboat. The “you float my boat” sentiment from the companion Tiny Treats: Valentine stamp set was stamped on a red fishtail flag strip. I wrapped the end of the strip with some twine and added a tiny bow before adhering it to the cardfront.

Materials Used:
Tremendous Treats: Valentine and Tiny Treats: Valentine stamp sets, Spring Rain patterned paper, Eyelet Lace and Tremendous Treats: Valentine dies (Papertrey Ink); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); markers (Copic); Real Red and Pacific Point cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); Desert Storm cardstock (Neenah); Die-namics Staggered Heart Border die (My Favorite Things); grid washi tape (Love My Tapes)
