Birthday Verve

Here's my card for the last Viva la Verve sketch for June.  I created a masculine birthday card using a mostly monochromatic color scheme with a pop of sparkly gold.

birthday card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Verve Stamps
The birthday sentiment from Verve's Better Together set was stamped in dark brown ink on a cream stitched rectangle panel.  The dark brown ink was a nice match for the brown patterned papers from Simple Stories that I used on the cardfront.  I picked a simple dotted paper to cover most of the brown cardfront, then used a smaller scale, darker dotted paper for the two panels that run across the card.  The panels were topped with a striped fishtail flag strip.  Once the panels were all in place, I added the two gold stitched stars on top using foam tape for dimension.

Materials Used:
Better Together stamp set (Verve); Memento Espresso Truffle ink (Tsukineko); Early Espresso cardstock (Stampin' Up!); gold paper (Target); Documented 6x6 paper pad (Simple Stories); stitched rectangle and stitched star dies (Lil' Inker Designs); fishtail flag dies (My Favorite Things); foam tape
