You're So Cool
This week's blogger challenge theme is "the dog days of summer." I combined the theme with the current sketch from Freshly Made Sketches for this summery design.
There's not much that's more summery than an icy cold popsicle, right? The popsicle on my card was made by watercoloring a panel of watercolor paper with a pale colorwash in bands of red, orange, and yellow, then die cutting the finished panel with Reverse Confetti's Confetti Cuts Let's Chill dies. I added a stick, die cut from kraft cardstock and stamped with the woodgrain image from the coordinating Let's Chill stamp set, to the bottom of the popsicle, then adhered it to a white cardstock panel.
I stamped the white panel with the "you're so cool" sentiment in orange pigment ink. The little popsicle "drips" are made with tiny drops of irRESISTible texture spray. The white panel was adhered to an orange mat, then set on a yellow card base over a piece of chevron patterned paper. Even with the cool popsicle image, the warm colors definitely say "summer" to me!
Materials Used:
Let's Chill stamp set and Confetti Cuts Let's Chill dies (Reverse Confetti); Memento Rich Cocoa ink, Memento Luxe Morocco ink, irRESISTible Dandelion texture spray (IMAGINE Crafts/Tsukineko); Orange Fizz cardstock (My Favorite Things); Poppy Parade cardstock (Stampin' Up!); HarvestGold cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Desert Storm cardstock (Neenah); Summer Bliss 6x6 paper pad (Echo Park); watercolors, watercolor paper (Michaels); foam tape
