Celebrate Your Day

Here's my card for September's first Viva la Verve sketch.  I needed a birthday card for a colleague for later this week, so I used the sketch and optional color combination to create a feminine, floral birthday design.

Celebrate Your Day card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps from Verve Stamps
I stamped the three different sized poppy images from Verve's Poppy Birthday set on pink cardstock using black pigment ink, then used the matching Build-a-Poppy dies to cut out the flowers.  I arranged them on a square panel, using foam tape to adhere two of them to add dimension, then tucked a pair of die cut green leaves underneath the bunch of flowers.  The set's "celebrate your day" sentiment was stamped in the panel's lower left corner.  I matted the panel with a square of kraft cardstock.

I found a piece of pretty green patterned paper to use for the large panel behind the image.  It's adhered to a pink cardstock panel, then wrapped with a piece of pink ribbon from my scrap pile.  Once the ribbon was in place, I added the image panel on top.  To bring in a bit more kraft, I die cut a fishtail flag strip from kraft cardstock and adhered that to the upper right corner of the patterned paper panel.  The finished panel was adhered on an easy to write on green card base--since I'm planning on passing this card around for other colleagues to sign, I wanted to make it easy for them to do so!

Materials Used:
Poppy Birthday stamp set, Build-a-Poppy dies (Verve Stamps); Memento Luxe Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko); Bubblegum cardstock, Die-namics Pierced Square Stax and Fishtail Flag Layers Stax dies (My Favorite Things); Simply Chartreuse cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Desert Storm cardstock (Neenah); True Friends 6x6 paper pad (Echo Park); pink ribbon; foam tape
