Gold and Gray Happy Birthday

Here's my card for this week's My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club sketch challenge.  I used the layout for a birthday card made with a mix of MFT dies.

Gold and Gray Happy Birthday card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from My Favorite Things
I started out with a light gray card base covered with a piece of arrow patterned paper.  I cut a matching light gray oval using MFT's Pierced Oval Stax die and added that to the panel, then topped it with a dark gray cardstock strip.  The oval was topped with the die cut word "happy."  To give it dimension, I cut the word once from shimmery gold cardstock, then cut it three more times from scraps of white cardstock.  I stacked the pieces, then placed it on the oval.

To finish the sentiment, I stamped the word "birthday" from the Happy Everything set on a light gray pierced fishtail flag strip in sparkly gold ink and added it to the dark gray cardstock piece.  As an accent, I cut a pair of stars, one outline from the Blueprints 18 die set and one pierced star from the Pierced Star Stax die set, and arranged them at the top of the oval panel. The small star in the center was adhered with foam tape for a nice pop.

Materials Used:
Happy Everything stamp set, Grout Gray and Steel Grey cardstock, Die-namics Happy, Pierced Oval Stax, Pierced Fishtail Flag Stax, Pierced Star Stax, and Blueprints 18 dies (My Favorite Things); Delicata Golden Glitz ink (IMAGINE Crafts/Tsukineko); gold paper (Target); The Story of Us 6x6 paper pad (Simple Stories); foam tape
