Birthday Candles
Here's my card for this week's My Favorite Things Wednesday Sketch Challenge. I flipped the sketch on its side and used it to make an easy to mail birthday card.
The candles were made from different color cardstock scraps. I picked ones in complementary colors, then staggered their heights on the panel. Once they were in place, I added oval-ish flames made from yellow cardstock. The "happy birthday" sentiment from the Whimsical Wishes set was stamped along the edge of one of the candles in orange ink. I adhered the finished panel to a yellow card base. I thought about adding some glitter to the flames, but in the end decided to leave them undecorated so I could add this card to my Operation Write Home pile.
Materials Used:
Whimsical Wishes stamp set, Daffodil, Orange Fizz, and Summer Splash cardstock (My Favorite Things); Fizz ink (Avery Elle); Aqua Mist cardstock (Papertrey Ink); circle punch (EK Success)

What a fun interpretation of the sketch! LOVE the candles! Thanks so much for playing along at MFT!
ReplyDeleteTwo things I love about this card - using scraps and being brave enough to just hand cut stuff. Well done, Lori!
