It’s time for another Color Throwdown! Monika is our hostess this week and she's chosen a dramatic color combination--dark pink, dark blue, and black. I used the colors for a Halloween themed design featuring stamps and dies from Lil' Inker Designs.
I used distress inks, water, and watercolor paper to make a night sky background. After the inked panel dried, I adhered a strip of black cardstock, die cut with a curved and stitched edge, to the bottom to look like the ground. A silver stitched circle die cut was adhered to the top of the panel as a moon.
To fill in the scene, I stamped the witch image from the Seen on Halloween stamp set on a matching die cut in black pigment ink. I just reinked the pad, so it's super dark and looks great when stamped. I need to remember to do that more often . . . The witch was adhered over the moon using foam tape for dimension. I scattered a few clear "sequin" stars around the panel for a little sparkle. After matting it on pink cardstock, I adhered the panel to a black card base.
To play along, just create a paper crafted project using these colors as a starting point and add a direct link to your finished project using the linky tool found at the end of this week's CTD post. As always, if you don’t have exact color matches, something close works just fine. Just be sure that the challenge colors are the dominant ones in your project. And, if you upload your project to an online gallery, use the keyword CTD360. If you upload your projects on social media, go ahead and use the hashtag #ctd360 and #colorthrowdown. You can find us on Instagram (and on Facebook!) with the username colorthrowdown.
Before you get started, here’s some inspiration from the talented Color Throwdown team and our September guestie Kelly Latevola.
