Camp Create Backgrounds
I'm sharing my final two cards for last week's My Favorite Things Camp Create. Both feature fun backgrounds that are a bit out of the norm for me.
The first card has a stamped background created by using the small leaf stamps from the Sweet Safari stamp set. I randomly stamped the 5 different images on a kraft panel, then used Zig Clean Color markers to color them in. Since I didn't use ink that would work for watercoloring, I simply colored with the markers instead of shading and blending with an aqua brush.
To go with my leafy panel, I stamped and colored the set's giraffe image. This time, I did watercolor the images using my Clean Color markers. I carefully cut around the image, then added foam tape to the back. I adhered a strip of green cardstock, punched along the top with a grass border punch and wrapped with some brown ribbon, near the bottom of the stamped panel. The green piece actually covers where my stamping wasn't really good--love when I can salvage something with a mistake on it! I added the giraffe on top, then stamped the set's thank you sentiment next to the image. The finished panel was adhered to a green card base.
Materials Used:
Sweet Safari stamp set (My Favorite Things); Memento Tuxedo Black and Versafine Onyx Black inks (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); Clean Color markers (Zig); Kiwi Kiss cardstock, brown grosgrain ribbon (Stampin' Up!); Kraft cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Grass border punch (Fiskars); foam tape
My second card features a background created with a stencil and masking. I created my own stencil from some scrap cardstock and a chevron die plate. After securing it in place with a bit of removable tape, I inked it using a trio of distress inks. The inked panel was trimmed and layered on to an aqua mat, then adhered to a green card base on an angle.
I added a shiny silver pierced circle die cut to the panel and topped it with a pair of die cut feathers and a twine-tied button. The "you tickle my fancy" sentiment from the Right on Target set was stamped on a narrow fishtail flag strip, then adhered to the panel so it extended out from beneath the feather pair. A pair of aqua sequins were arranged around the feathers to add a final sparkly touch to the design.
Materials Used:
Right on Target stamp set, Die-namics Feathers and Arrows, Fishtail Flag STAX, and Pierced Circle STAX dies (My Favorite Things); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts);Mermaid Lagoon, Dusty Concord, and Peeled Paint distress inks (Ranger); Simply Chartreuse, Hawaiian Shores, and Winter Wisteria cardstock, Winter Wisteria button (Papertrey Ink); silver cardstock (Michaels); CutUps Chevron die (The Cat's Pajamas); aqua sequins (Treehouse Studio); blue baker's twine; foam tape
