Poppy Birthday

Here's my card for October's second Viva la Verve sketch.  My card stash is a little low on birthday cards, so I used the sketch for a feminine birthday design.

Poppy Birthday card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from Verve Stampms
A trio of poppies from Verve's Poppy Birthday set represent the sketch's three circles.  To get a bold red color, I stamped the poppies in black ink on red cardstock instead of stamping them on white and coloring.  After cutting the flowers out with the matching dies, I used foam tape to arrange them on a green gingham panel adhered to a lighter green card base. A single leaf on each end frames the flower trio.  The "happy birthday" sentiment from the Simply Amazing set was stamped on a long cream cardstock strip and tucked underneath the flower. For a final feminine touch, I trimmed the sentiment strip with a bit of cream lace.

Materials Used:
Poppy Birthday and Simply Amazing stamp sets, Build a Poppy dies (Verve Stamps); Versafine Onyx Black ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); Real Red cardstock (Stampin' Up!); Simply Chartreuse and Spring Moss cardstock, Simply Chartreuse patterned paper (Papertrey Ink); cream trim (Hobby Lobby); foam tape
