Watercolor-y Wonderful Day
Here's my card for the current Fusion challenge. I combined the sketch with the watercolor and butterfly elements from the inspiration photo to create my colorful design.
I started out by creating my watercolor panel. I pressed a bunch of different distress inks on to a large clear block then spritzed the inks with water and pressed watercolor paper on top to make the magic happen. So pretty! I sped up the drying process with my heat tool, then set the panel aside to flatten underneath a pile of cardstock packs.
While it flattened, I die cut a pair of butterflies from vellum and a pair of silver fringed strips. The fringed strips were adhered to the left edge of the panel, staggered just a bit to add interest. The butterflies were layered and adhered only at their centers, allowing the wings to be folded back slightly for dimension. I used a piece of a crystal flourish to form a flight train for the butterfly and added a few more crystals to the butterfly to form a body. The "have a wonderful day" sentiment from the Lil' Inker Designs Apple of My Eye stamp set was stamped beneath the butterfly in black ink. I adhered the finished panel to a coordinating cheery yellow card base.
Materials Used:
Apple of My Eye stamp set, Stitched Butterflies dies (Lil' Inker Designs); Memento Tuxedo Black ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); Dried Marigold, Mermaid Lagoon, Evergreen Bough, Mustard Seed, and Festive Berries distress inks (Ranger); Lemon Drop cardstock, Die-namics Mini-Fringe die (My Favorite Things); white vellum (Stampin' Up!); Recollections Silver cardstock (Michaels); The Paper Studio clear crystal flourish (Hobby Lobby)
