Dotty Birthday

Here's my take on April's SugarPea Designs Mix It Up challenge.  I combined the sketch with elements from the inspiration photo to create this birthday themed design.

Happy Birthday to You card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from SugarPea DesignsTo bring in the round shape of the containers in the inspiration photo, I found a piece of multicolored dotted paper from an older patterned paper pad.  I used the journal card die from SPD's Heart Journal Card die set to cut the patterned paper, then matted it on an aqua cardstock panel.  To get matching rounded edges on the mat, I pulled out my old corner rounder and went to work.  I adhered my matted panel on a berry card base with a pink die cut circle in the lower left corner.  I stamped the "happy birthday to you" sentiment from the You stamp set on a pale aqua strip in darker aqua ink, then used foam tape to adhere the sentiment to the dotted panel.  As an accent, I added a trio of pink enamel dots around the sentiment strip.  A banner cut with the Celebrate Party Banner Duo die was adhered to the top left corner of the card for a festive finish to the design.

Materials Used:
You stamp set, Heart Journal Card and Celebrate Party Banner Duo dies (SugarPea Designs); Cookie Monster ink (Taylored Expressions); Berry Sorbet, Sweet Blush, and Aqua Mist cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Recollections Silver cardstock (Michaels); Cut and Paste-Flair 6x6 paper pad (My Mind's Eye); circle dies (Spellbinders); pink enamel dots (Freckled Fawn); foam tape
