You Are the Best

You Are the Best card-designed by Lori Tecler/Inking Aloud-stamps and dies from SugarPea Designs
Here's my card for June's Mix It Up Challenge at SugarPea Designs.  I mixed a loose interpretation of the sketch with the color scheme from the inspiration photo as the basis for this card.

I created a background panel by doing some ink blending with a bunch of different distress inks on a piece of watercolor paper.  While the inks dried, I die cut the word "you" from both gold paper and craft foam. The pieces were layered for dimension, then adhered to the inked panel.  I stamped the trio of stars and the "are the best" from SPD's You stamp set directly on the panel in gold ink, then heat embossed them with gold powder.  The sentiment didn't turn out as crisp as I would have liked, but I didn't want to trash the ink blended panel, so I moved on to Plan B.  That was stamping the sentiment on a teal cardstock strip in gold ink, then trying again to heat emboss.  Much better this time!  I positioned the text beneath the die cut word, using foam tape for dimension.  The finished panel was adhered to a teal card base to match the sentiment strip.

Materials Used:
You stamp set, You die (SugarPea Designs); Delicata Golden Glitz ink (Tsukineko/IMAGINE Crafts); Mermaid Lagoon, Faded Jeans, Peacock Feathers, Dried Marigold, and Carved Pumpkin distress inks (Ranger); Taken with Teal cardstock (Stampin' Up!); gold paper (Target); Zing! Gold embossing powder (American Crafts); craft foam; foam tape
