More Fairy Tale Fun

I'm still having fun with the DoodleFactory Fairy Tale images from Starving Artistamps. The variety of images in this set is great! Here, I went for a masculine look here to go with the sentiment, “Happy birthday to a real fungi.”

There are three separate mushroom stamps that I combined here to create the image panel. I started by stamping the large, single mushroom in the center, then creating a mask for the image. Then I placed the other images around the first one, varying the placement to give the panel some depth. I used Copic markers to color the images and an inked up piece of sponge to fill in the sky. I layered the panel on coordinating cardstock mats and added a ribbon tab and some brads for interest.

I stamped the striped background image horizontally along the left side of a Sahara Sand panel, then layered the matted image over that. I stamped the sentiment on a scrap of Sahara Sand cardstock, layered it on a coordinating mat, then added some more brads.

Materials Used:
Mushroom images, sentiment (DoodleFactory from Starving Artistamps) striped background (Starving Artistamps); white cardstock (Xerox); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic Ciao); Not Quite Navy, Sahara Sand, and Soft Sky Classic inks, Sahara Sand, Not Quite Navy, and More Mustard cardstock, Chocolate Chip wide grosgrain ribbon, silver brads, dimensionals (Stampin’ Up!)

This card uses the wizard image from the Fairy Tale set. I created a "joy fold" card here, with the colored stamped image on the flap section of the card. I used a cloud template to get the cloud background on the panel, then cut around the colored image and attached it to the panel with dimensionals.

The front panel is embossed with the Cuttlebug D'vine Swirls folder. I brushed some shimmery white ink over it to draw attention to the raised images, then wrapped a matching light purple ribbon aroundthe panel.

The thing about these joy fold cards that annoys me is that they flop open. To stop that on this card, I stamped the "you are so wise" sentiment--perfect for the wizard image--then punched it out with a circle punch and attached it to the embossed panel with a pop up glue dot. The raised dot allows the image panel to slip under the sentiment, holding it closed somewhat. It's not the perfect solution, but it works.

Materials Used:
wizard image and sentiment (DoodleFactory Fairy Tale stamps and sentiments from Starving Artistamps); striped background (Starving Artistamps); white cardstock (Xerox); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic Ciao); Elegant Eggplant and Bashful Blue Classic inks, Elegant Eggplant, Almost Amethyst, and Bashful Blue cardstock, 1 1/4" and 1 3/8" circle punches, pop up glue dot, dimensionals (Stampin' Up!); D'Vine Swirls embossing folder (Cuttlebug); amethyst satin ribbon (Michaels); Moonlight White ink (Brilliance)
