ChocoBerry Cupcake

Here's my card for Dawn's latest Raspberry Suite color challenge. The colors here are Melon Berry, Berry Sorbet, Dark Chocolate, and Cream. Doesn't this combination of yummy sounding colors call for a card with an edible image?

I thought it did, so that's the inspiration behind this card. The layout of my card is based on Mary Jo's latest sketch challenge. She always has great sketches--and if you participate in this week's challenge, you can enter to win her blog candy prize, too. I used one of the cupcake images from the DoodleFactory Sweets 'N Hearts set from Starving Artistamps for my focal image. I paper pieced it using scraps of melon, berry, and chocolate cardstock, then layered the cupcake on a cream panel. I had to make the panel across the cardfront wider than it was in the sketch to accommodate my image.

I stamped the "Thanks, sweetie!" sentiment from the Simple Sweet Sayings set in berry ink on the melon panel and added a cream ribbon underneath it. The chocolate panel that covers most of the cardfront is embossed with a polka dot pattern.

Materials Used:
DoodleFactory Sweets 'N Hearts stamp set and Simple Sweet Sayings sentiment set (Starving Artistamps); Berry Sorbet Palette ink, Berry Sorbet, Melon Berry, and Dark Chocolate cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Very Vanilla cardstock, Dazzling Diamonds, dimensionals (Stampin' Up!); cream satin ribbon (Target); Polka Dot embossing folder (QuicKutz)
