I found a six inch ruler with the wood items at the craft store and decided to build my project around it. I ended up creating an altered spiral bound blank album that could be used as an autograph or memory book, perfect for the end of the school year. The blank spiral bound album has been in my closet for a while now, waiting for me to find just the right project for it. I removed the spiral binding carefully, then lined up the patterned paper against the cover so I could mark and punch holes for the binding. I attached the paper with my ATG--no drying time, smooth finish--and replaced the binding.
Since the patterned paper I used to cover the book has a lot going on, I kept my embellishments simple. I stamped the "You measure up in my book!" sentiment from the 3 Step School Days set directly on the wooden ruler in red Palette ink and added a wooden button with a twine bow as an embellishment. I attached a scalloped strip under the bottom edge of the ruler so it would stand out a bit against the pattern on the cover, then attached the ruler to the cover, again using my ATG.
I forgot to take a picture, but inside the front cover, I made a kind of book plate for a picture of the book's owner using Nestabilities labels dies. I stamped "This book belongs to: " underneath the book plate to finish the inside.
