Tree-Mendous

Starving Artistamps is sponsoring this week’s sketch challenge at 2 Sketches 4 You. I played along and created a simple, masculine card based on the sketch. It also fits this week's masculine card challenge at Crazy 4 Challenges.

I used the trio of trees image from the DoodleFactory Into the Woods stamp set for my focal image. The trees are stamped in brown ink on a cream panel and their tops are paper pieced using scraps of designer paper. The paper pieced tops are put in place using foam tape to add some dimension. The coordinating “you’re tree-mendous” sentiment fit nicely underneath the image.

I layered the trees on a coordinating yellow mat, then attached a pair of brown strips along the sides of the image. I embossed a celery panel with a herringbone panel and ran a saffron ribbon across it, and then set the image panel on the embossed panel. It was looking a little too plain, so used my sewing machine to zig zag stitch along the edges of the brown strips to add a little more interest.

Materials Used:
DoodleFactory Into the Woods stamp set (Starving Artistamps); Rich Cocoa ink (Memento); Soft Suede, Certainly Celery, So Saffron, and Very Vanilla cardstock, Prints designer series paper, So Saffron grosgrain ribbon (Stampin’ Up!); Herringbone embossing folder (Cuttlebug); foam tape; sewing machine
