Back to School Blues--Not!
Here’s my card for this week’s My Favorite Things Wednesday Stamp Club challenge to make a school themed card using the color blue. I combined the challenge with the colors from this week’s Color Throwdown—Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, Pear Pizzazz, and Tempting Turquoise—for this bright, cheery card.
I stamped the cute Pure Innocence You Make the Grade image on a piece of white cardstock and colored her in bright shades of blue and yellow. I added a little sparkle with some Stickles on her heart-shaped barrette. The center of the chalkboard image is cut out, then filled in with a piece of chalkstock—I love this stuff! It works perfectly with this image to really give the panel a chalkboard look. I stamped the sentiment on the chalkstock with white pigment ink.
The CTD colors instantly made me think of the Cosmo Cricket DeLovely line, so I pulled out a piece of that to use for the front of my card. I added a yellow panel behind my image to set it off from the sort of busy background, then added a trio of strips underneath it in different colors, widths, and textures to add interest. The ribbon strip is notched at the end and embellished with a pink button for a fun pop.
Materials Used:
Pure Innocence You Make the Grade stamp set (My Favorite Things); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Melon Mambo, Daffodil Delight, and Pear Pizzazz cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); DeLovely designer paper (Cosmo Cricket); chalkstock (Canvas Corp.); Fresh Snow ink, medium scallop die, Raspberry Fizz button (Papertrey Ink); turquoise stitched ribbon (Michaels); Yellow Stickles (Ranger); foam tape
