A Whale of a Friend

For this week's TCP Tuesday, Julie has challenged us to use buttons. I love to use buttons as an embellishment, so I have to admit this one wasn't too much of a challenge for me--LOL!

I used the A Whale of a Time set for my card. The whale is paper pieced using a piece of grid patterned paper and spritzed with a little shimmer spray for a subtle sparkle (that doesn't show in my photo . . .). I made some water for the whale by layering a few strips of blue cardstock cut with the CutUps Wave die. After arranging the whale and waves, I created a fun sun embellishment by layering a pair of felt die cuts and attaching a big yellow button, tied with a little orange Divine Twine. The pinking circle die makes a perfect sun shape, doesn't it?

I layered the image panel on a cardfront covered with a piece of orange paper with a dotted pattern. Two little ribbon strips peek out from underneath the image panel and the "you're a whale of a friend" sentiment fits perfectly in the space next to the ribbon.

I hope you'll pull out your button collection and play along with the Cat Pack in this week's challenge. As always, the weekly Cat Cash prize is up for grabs for one lucky participant who adds their creation to the guestbook on Alma's blog--as is a chance to be named the next Swanky Stamper. And, Alma will be sharing links to the Cat Pack's creations on her blog all week, so be sure to check in regularly for some eye candy and inspiration.
