A Lamp to "Die" For

The Clear and Simple Stamps design team is starting its “Release Review” of Collection 2 today. Over the next few days, the designers will be sharing fresh new projects featuring products included in last month’s release. Today’s focus is on dies and die cut/stamp combo sets.

I used the dies in the Large Baby Shower set to dress up a plain white lamp shade. I’ve had this project in mind since I first saw the dies in this die set. The larger size of these dies makes them perfect for altered projects!

I cut the giraffe image from plaid fabric pieces. There’s only one giraffe die in the set, so to get a pair of giraffes with each facing in a different direction, I cut one giraffe with the fabric right side up against the die and one with the fabric set so the reverse side was against the die (hope that makes sense!). I die cut a tiny pair of birds, using dies from the Baby Shower set, and a heart, using a die from the Shapes: Hearts set, from a coordinating fabric and arranged the pieces the lamp. They’re secured with fabric glue. I used the same glue to attach a strip of blue grosgrain ribbon at the bottom of the lamp shade.

The animals looked cute by themselves, but I decided to dress them up a little by adding button eyes and baker’s twine bows to the giraffes. Such a cute project—and it was really quick and easy to put together, too!

Be sure to check out the rest of the designers featuring projects with CSS’s background sets. Here’s where to find them:
