Birthday Word Search

Fun with Shapes is a set I've neglected lately. Using it today reminded me how much fun it is to use. There are tons of things you can make using the different shapes in the set. I think it's also one of the easiest of Stampin' Up!'s 2 Step Stampin' sets to use. The solid images and the outlines work well together even if they're not perfectly lined up, so it's hard to make a mistake when using this set.

I combined Fun with Shapes with the Word Search background stamp to create this trio of birthday cards to use over the next few weeks. The Word Search background has over 50 words for all occasions hidden throughout the image. You can check out the Stampin' Up! online catalog to see a complete list of words. The gift panel is raised on dimensionals and the bows have just a little sparkle from a Stardust glitter gel pen outline.

To get the perfect circles around the letters in the Word Search background, I used the end of an unused pencil eraser. It's a simple way to highlight just the letters you want. Here's how to do it:

Gather your supplies (Classic (dye) ink pad, pencil with eraser, and stamped Word Search background)

Tap the eraser in the ink. Press the eraser on to a letter in the word you want to highlight.

Hint: If the ink color you're using is dark, you may want to stamp off once before stamping on the Word Search background image.
