Sale-a-Bration Swap

I arrived home from work today and waiting at the front door was the envelope full of Sale-a-Bration (and new catalog) swaps from the Stampin' Up! swap group I'm in. It's so much fun to see what other people create for these swaps.

Here's my card for the Sale-a-Bration swap. It was a hard choice, but I picked the So Many Scallops stamp set. The color scheme for the card was inspired by the colors in the East Coast Prep paper pack. There's no red in the striped paper I used, but since there's red in some of the other patterned papers in the pack, I decided to add it here for just a little "pop."

I used the birthday image as the focal point for my card. I actually stamped the image twice. The first time, I inked the image in just Tempting Turquoise ink, then used a circle punch to remove the inside of the image. Then, I used the scalloped circle punch to punch out the remaining part of the image--just the scalloped edge. I inked the sentiment and candles with markers, then punched out just the inside image portion. After I embellished the candles with a bit of Dazzling Diamonds, I attached the plain circle image directly to the cardfront. The scalloped circle was attached using dimensionals (cut in half to fit the thin image) to frame and highlight the circle image.

Off to work on my card for tomorrow's blogger challenge (nothing like waiting until the last minute, huh?) and to watch Lost. I also have two brand new sets from Kitchen Sink Stamps that arrived today and are calling my name . . .

Materials Used (all from Stampin' Up!);
