My biggest challenge (okay, one of them) with this sketch was deciding on papers to use. I shuffled a lot of different papers around, but was having a hard time finding the right mix. I finally turned to my retired Loves Me paper for the solution. The way that the colors and images coodinate is one of the things I love about Stampin' Up!'s patterned papers. Once I had the papers decided on, this card came together really quickly.
I cut the paper into strips and secured it to the cardfront with some adhesive. Then I began to sew the strips. This was my other challenge! Making straight lines is not something I've ever been good at, so my stitching is a little erratic. I definitely need more practice. Let me put it this way--I will not be sewing on anything that I might need to wear . . .
I stamped the (replacement) sentiment on a white panel, then added a row of hearts to the bottom of the panel. I layered the panel on cardstock scraps that matched the patterned paper. The heart embellishment is also made from images in the Wild Thing set. I stamped the brown heart, then the pink heart outside it. The pink heart is stamped in craft ink, then heat embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder. Stitching aside, I really like how this turned out. It's not too girly, but still has a Valentine look to it.
Materials Used:
Gorgeous. I love the pink and brown!
