Blogger Challenge: Week 46

This week's challenge was to create a Mother's Day card. Since Mother's Day isn't until Sunday and I know that my mom is a regular reader of Inking Aloud (hi, Mom!), I'm not going to post the card I made for her until then, so if you want to see it, you'll have to check back then. Instead, I'll post the card I made for my aunt, who I don't think is a regular blog reader. She is just starting to embrace and be comfortable with modern technology (like cable and cell phones), so I'm pretty sure that blog-hopping is not yet a part of her regular routine.

Anyway, I dropped this card in the mail yesterday so I'll be sure that my aunt will have it in time for Mother's Day. I started with a shimmery white panel. I love the way the floral images from Kitchen Sink Stamps look on shimmery white! I used the daisy set and stamped the flower in varying shades of red and pink. You can find a short video on how to stamp with these three step stamps here, along with a chance to win some blog candy, too.

The sentiment is stamped in cranberry ink using the Whole Family Set. I filled in the "white space" at the bottom of the panel with some copper brads and at the top right corner with a photo corner punch.

I used a piece of paper with a pink and white pattern to coordinate with the stamped image. I added a brown strip with some faux stitching across the bottom and an elegant brown satin ribbon with organdy edges around the cardfront. I hope she likes it!

If you're looking for more Mother's Day card ideas, I'm sure that you'll find some fantastic inspiration on the other challenge participants' blogs. You can find links to their blogs in the sidebar on the right.

Materials Used:
Daisy and Whole Family stamp sets (Kitchen Sink Stamps); Pink Patterns paper (Papertrey Ink); Regal Rose, Rose Red, Cranberry Crisp, Certainly Celery, and Always Artichoke Classic inks, Cranberry Crisp, Chocolate Chip, and Shimmery White cardstock, photo corner punch, mat pack and paper piercing tool, white gel pen, dimensionals (Stampin' Up!); copper brads (Making Memories); brown ribbon (AC Moore)
