Big Bold Birthday Blocks

I made this card in two different color schemes as one of my swaps for convention. I went with one really bold and bright color combo—Pink Passion, Tempting Turquoise, Green Galore, and Only Orange—and one more mellow, masculine color combo—Always Artichoke, Certainly Celery, Old Olive, and Taken with Teal.

At first, I thought that the Bold Brights version of the card might be too much. I know there are a lot of people who aren't Bold Brights fans and this is a lot of those colors all rolled in to one. In the end I decided I really liked both color combos, so I made 20 of each color scheme to swap.

These cards are really quick to assemble and a great design for mass-produced cards because they're simply punched out stamped images and a single embellishment. I used the gift image from Big Bold Birthday to stamp the gift images. They’re stamped tone on tone to match the cardstock squares. I used a 1 3/8” square punch to punch out the gifts, then assembled them on a coordinating mat.

The sentiment is from the new hostess set, Occasions collection. The simple, bold font was a nice match for the gift images.

So, let me know what you think. Which do you like better? Bold or mellow?

  3. I think I like the bold colors as they seem to pop really nicely. I would use the subtle for a man card.
