Unity Challenge Wednesday: Week 3

The third week of Unity Challenge Wednesday is being hosted by Latisha from A Busy Little Craftee Bee. Her challenge was to make a square card with scallops. She provided a basic sketch to follow, too. The funny thing is, I created this card before I saw the sketch, working only from the square card and scallops requirements. It ended up looking pretty close to the sketch without even having seen it yet!

My card is a 4 1/4" by 4 1/4" square. I used the oven mitt image from Unity's Lovin’ from the Oven for the main image on my card. I colored the image with Copic markers, then trimmed around it. I attached it to a white panel, scored in a diagonal grid pattern to match the pattern on the oven mitt. This is layered on a scalloped mat.

I stamped the “hey hottie” sentiment in white pigment ink on a piece of black cardstock, then embossed it with white embossing paper for a strong contrast. I left just enough space to the right of the words to squeeze in a felt heart.

You can see what the other challenge participants have created by visiting their blogs. You can find links to them in the sidebar on the right.

Materials Used:
Lovin’ from the Oven stamp kit (Unity Stamp Co.); white cardstock (Xerox); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic Ciao); White craft ink, Real Red and Basic Black cardstock, Real Red Patterns series designer paper, Basic Black grosgrain ribbon, mat pack and paper piercing tool, white embossing powder, dimensionals (Stampin’ Up!); felt heart (American Crafts); rectangle and scalloped rectangle dies (Nestabilities); Scor-Pal
