Blue Bold Birthday
When I saw the sketch for today's challenge on SCS, I immediately thought of the candle images from Big Birthday Candle. They were a perfect fit for the main image panel on the sketch.
I stamped the candles on scraps of red designer papers, then trimmed around them. I attached them to the white panel, which I had already stamped with the candle flames and embellished with some Dazzling Diamonds.
I used yet another pattern of red designer paper for the strip along the left side of the card. I matted this on a piece of Baja Breeze cardstock. Then I used a sewing machine to make a zig zag line across three narrow scraps of Baja Breeze cardstock to layer across the cardfront.
Initially, I didn't have the extra layers of Baja Breeze and Pacific Point. I had just set everything on a Pacific Point cardfront. It looked a little plain to me, so first I tried setting the images over the Pacific Point cardfront stamped with the Dotted background. That was way too busy, so I ended up using layers of solid cardstock instead.
For the sentiment, I combined two of the words from the Occasions Collection hostess set. This is such a versatile set! There's a sentiment for almost any event and the font is nice and clean. I think this set will fit into a lot of my designs. I punched them out with a circle punch and attached the panel to the cardfront with dimensionals. I think this might make a nice birthday card for a child.
