Unity Challenge: Week 4

It's the fourth week of the Unity Stamp Co. customer challenge. This week's installment is hosted by Jeanne at Inky Paws. Jeanne challenged us to create a card using pink and black.

I decided to pair some of this fun flocked paper that I've had for a long time with the trendy skull image from Unity's Love Is Toxic kit. I stamped the skull image in black craft ink, then covered it with Iridescent Ice embossing powder and heat embossed the image. It's cut out using a circle Nestabilities die and layered over a slightly larger petite scalloped circle. I added a crown to the skull, stamped in black and embellished with some pink beads. It's attached using dimensionals and extends just a little bit outside of the circle panel that the skull image is stamped on.

I wasn't sure about how stamping over the flocked paper would work, so I decided to leave off a sentiment. Instead, I added a trio of black brads to the empty space on the flocked paper panel.

You can check out what the other Unity Customer Challenge girls have done with this challenge by visiting their blogs. You can find them listed in the sidebar on the right.

Materials Used:
Love Is Toxic stamp kit (Unity Stamp Co.); Pixie Pink and Basic Black cardstock, Iridescent Ice embossing powder, Crystal Effects, dimensionals (Stampin' Up!); Noir Black ink (Palette); circle and petite scalloped circle dies (Nestabilities); beads (Walmart); flocked paper, black satin ribbon (Target); black brads (Making Memories); black pigment ink (?)

And, while I'm sharing Unity challenges, here's another one. Angela challenged Unity fans to pick and CASE a card made by Unity design team member Jennifer. Here's my version of her What's Shakin Sugar? card. I really liked the look and layout of her card, so I kept the layout and color scheme pretty much the same on my version, but reversed the placement of the image and embellishments to change it up just a little.

I used the Mix Up of Cuteness kit for my main image and sentiment. The ice cream cone is colored with Copic markers and the ice cream part is cut out and attached to the card with dimensionals. I added a little Pink Stickles to the ice cream too for some sparkle.

I stitched the layers on the cardfront together with my sewing machine. Pretty straight this time--yay! I used two chocolate brown buttons, with faux stitches at their centers, for embellishments and added a yummy pink and brown dotted grosgrain ribbon around the cardfront to coordinate with the colors of the card.

Materials Used:
Mix Up of Cuteness stamp set (Unity Stamp Co.); markers (Copic Ciao); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); Chocolate Chip Classic ink, Pink Pirouette, Kraft, and Whisper White cardstock, white gel pen, dimensionals (Stampin' Up!); Pink Stickles (Ranger); brown buttons (American Crafts); dotted ribbon (?); sewing machine
