Blogger Challenge: Week 89
****If you're here for the Clear & Simple Stamps blog candy giveaway, scroll down to the previous post.****
This week’s blogger challenge was a color challenge. The colors were Sage Shadow, brown, and a neutral, so there was a little wiggle room on this one. I don’t use Sage Shadow too much, so this was a little challenging for me.
I pulled out one of my favorite SU! sets, Wonderful You, for my card. I think it’s currently on the dormant list, so it’s still available even though you don’t see it in the SU! catalog. I picked Sahara Sand as my neutral for something a little different. I stamped the solid flower image on a Sahara Sand panel, then stamped the outline image over it in Close To Cocoa ink. Then I sponged some more Close to Cocoa ink around the edges of the panel. So pretty!
I used the matching Stems & Silhouettes jumbo wheel, inked with my Sage Shadow ink pad, along the left side of the Sage Shadow card base. I layered the stamped image on a Close to Cocoa mat and attached a Chocolate Chip ribbon tab before attaching it to the cardfront, overlapping some of the wheeled image. I used the template from my mat pack to guide my paper piercing around the upper left corner of the image panel.
Instead of using one of the sentiments from the Wonderful You set (they’re pretty small in size—I wanted something a little larger), I decided to use a sentiment from the Always in My Thoughts stamp set. I stamped it in Close to Cocoa ink on a Sage Shadow scrap, then punched it out, accented it with a silver brad, and layered it on a Close to Cocoa circle before attaching it to the card.
For more inspiration using this color combination, you can check out what the other challenge participants have created. Links to their blogs are in the sidebar on the right.
Materials Used (all from Stampin’ Up!):
Wonderful You and Always in My Thoughts stamp sets, Stems & Silhouettes jumbo wheel, Close to Cocoa and Sage Shadow Classic inks, Close to Cocoa, Sage Shadow, and Sahara Sand cardstock, 1 ¼” and 1 3/8” circle punches, silver brad, sponge, Chocolate Chip 5/8” grosgrain ribbon, Dazzling Diamonds, mat pack and paper piercing tool, dimensionals
