Howdy

Here's my card for this week's sketch challenge at Paper Craft Planet. It uses images from a digital set from Pink Cat Studio that was released in honor of a special little boy who recently passed away after a brave battle with cancer. Profits from the purchase of this set will go to the Make a Wish Foundation.

In addition to the PCP sketch, I used Lauren's My Time to Color challenge for inspiration. The colors in the challenge (mustard, green, brown, terra cotta) were perfect for colors for a cowboy! The Cowboy Ethan image is colored with Copic markers (I added a few more to my collection earlier today at the Great American Scrapbook Convention). I sponged on some blue sky, then layered the image panel on a brown panel with pinked edges.

The trio of panels on the Kraft cardfront are strips of October Afternoon designer paper. I purchased a bunch of it at one of the booths today--love the colors and patterns! And, since it's double sided, it's easy to work with, too. I paired this with a strip of More Mustard paper with a grid pattern.

The "howdy" sentiment was printed out and then punched out with the word window punch. I added a wooden button, threaded with twine, to one end of the sentiment and a pair of screw brads as simple, boy-appropriate embellishments.

Materials Used:
Weiman Wranglers digital set (Pink Cat Studios); Classic Crest Solar White (Neenah); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); Bashful Blue Classic ink, Kraft and Chocolate Chip cardstock, More Mustard Patterns 2 designer series paper, word window punch, sponge, dimensional (Stampin' Up!); New Pencils patterned paper (October Afternoon-Weathervane line); circle and pinking circle dies (Nestabilities); wooden button, twine (Papertrey Ink); Gold Liquid Pearls (Ranger); screw brads (Michaels)
