Blogger Challenge: Week 107

This week’s blogger challenge assignment was to pick another challenge player and CASE one of their creations. There is so much talent in this group that this was a hard task! How do you pick just one?

I took my inspiration from a project of Selene’s that I had seen a while ago and wanted to try out for myself. My card is based on her ribbon window card seen in this post. My card uses the same layout, just flipped to a vertical orientation, and the same ribbon window technique. I changed the card’s color scheme and the sentiment to make it my own--and to fit the red, white, and blue theme of this month's Paper Craft Planet DT gallery, too.

To stay with the star theme, I used a pair of coordinating stars and stripes designer papers for my panels. I used a pair of star dies to make the star cutout and border for my window. The “wish big” sentiment from Papertrey Ink’s Star Prints is stamped in red ink to stand out against the soft blue background. I added a trio of brads, too. The top panel is layered over the striped panel using dimensionals.

The ribbon that’s seen through the “window” is a piece of red stitched velvet ribbon layered over a solid blue grosgrain. The bow was a last minute addition, already made and sitting on my table left over from another project. I think it works here!

For more ideas and inspiration, you can visit the rest of the challenge players. Links to their blogs are in the sidebar on the right.
