Blogger Challenge: Week 109
This week’s blogger challenge theme is Christmas in July. If you’ve followed me for a while, you probably know that I don’t do traditional holiday cards. So, here’s another one following in that tradition.
I used colorblocking to make this clean and simple card. I paired 3 different shades of SU! blues (all past In Colors) with a shimmery white card base and 3 different sizes of snowflakes. The snowflakes are from Papertrey Ink’s Snowfall and Snowfall Additions sets. I stamped the snowflakes tone on tone on each block, matching the snowflake size (small, medium, large) to the size of the block of paper it was stamped on.
To soften the hard edges of the blocks, I added a sentiment on a shimmery white circle. The sentiment is from the Vintage Picnic set, also from Papertrey Ink. At first, I had the shimmery white circle directly on the card. I went back and matted it with a silver circle for a little more shimmer—much better! I added a pair of snowflakes from SU!’s Little Felt Flurries, joined with a clear circle rhinestone brad, to finish the card.
For more ideas to give you a head start on your holiday card creating, you can visit the rest of the challenge players. Links to their blogs are in the sidebar on the right.
Materials Used:
Snowfall, Snowfall Additions, and Vintage Picnic stamp sets (Papertrey Ink); Blue Bayou, Baja Breeze, and Soft Sky Classic inks, Blue Bayou, Baja Breeze, Soft Sky, and Shimmery White cardstock, Little Felt Flurries, small clear circle rhinestone brad (Stampin’ Up!); 1 3/4" circle punch (EK Success); circle punch (Marvy Uchida); silver paper (Target)
