Let's Do Some Traveling

Clear & Simple Stamps will be releasing the appropriately titled Summertime Collection on Wednesday. This collection is full of images that are perfect for summertime cardmaking and scrapbooking.

Here’s a look at some projects made with the new Traveller set. It has a great variety of sentiments and images for summery—or just travel-related—projects. This card uses the silhouette palm tree image found in the set. Here, I highlighted the trees on a clean and simple card using warm, summery colors. The tree is stamped in black ink on a polished stone background made with yellow and orange inks and flecked with some gold. I wanted to capture a sunset kind of look. I added the “tropical breeze” sentiment alongside the image panel in black ink.

Materials Used:
Traveller stamp set (Clear & Simple Stamps); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); Pumpkin Pie and Summer Sun reinkers, Pumpkin Pie, Summer Sun, Rose Red, and Glossy White cardstock, silver brads (Stampin’ Up!); Gold Metallic Mixative (Ranger)

This one uses the seahorse image as the focal point. I showcased the image in a gel card. I haven’t made one of these in a long time—I’d forgotten how much fun they are to make!

The seahorse is colored with Copic markers. I used a sponge to add a blue tint around the image. The seahorse is positioned behind an opening in the cardfront, behind a small zip top plastic bag filled with some blue tinted hair gel (dollar store special!) and some iridescent circle confetti.

I found some wavy patterned designer paper in shades of blue and green that had kind of a water look and feel to use for the cardfront. I framed the opening for the seahorse with a coordinating scallop edged frame, embellished with some Silver Pearl Liquid Pearls. The “sea you soon” sentiment is stamped on a rounded edge panel, accented with a small knotted piece of blue ribbon.

Materials Used:
Traveller stamp set (Clear & Simple Stamps); Snow White Choice Cardstock (Taylored Expressions);Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Brocade Blue and Bashful Blue Classic inks, Brocade Blue and Certainly Celery cardstock, French Blue grosgrain ribbon, corner rounder, dimensionals (Stampin’ Up!); patterned paper (K & Company); circle and scalloped circle dies (Nestabilities); Silver Pearl Liquid Pearls (Ranger); Ziploc baggie; hair gel

And, finally, here’s a mini album I made using clear badge holders. It was quick and easy to put together a uniform color scheme for the pages. Using my Crop-A-Dile made it easy to punch the holes that I used to tie the album together with coordinating pieces of grosgrain ribbon.

I started with the passport image on the front cover. It's stamped in gold ink on navy cardstock and paper pieced on to the album cover.

Inside, there are two page spreads with one page stamped and embellished with images from the Traveller set and the opposite page left blank for a photo or memento.

For this set of pages, I stamped the suitcase image on different color cardstock scraps, cut the images out, and stacked them in an alternating pattern, then added the sentiment below.

Here, I used the trio of shell images from the set along the bottom of the page. Again, I paper pieced them so that the colors would pop against the red background.
