Meet Tennis Darling

I totally should have posted these projects last week when  Wimbledon was in full swing, but it didn’t cross my mind then . . .  Anyway, meet Tennis Darling, the latest addition to the signature Simple Darlings line from Clear & Simple Stamps.
Here’s Tennis Darling, captured in action on the tennis court. I colored her with Copic markers to coordinate with the colors in the K & Company designer paper I used for the pair of panels on the cardfront. I picked a paper with a circle pattern to go with the tennis ball.

The tennis sentiment is stamped on a cardstock strip and embellished with a simple coordinating button.

Materials Used:
Tennis Darling stamp set (Clear & Simple Stamps); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); Snow White Choice Cardstock (Taylored Expressions); markers (Copic); Kiwi Kiss Classic ink, Kiwi Kiss and Brocade Blue cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); circle dies (Nestabilities); Lemon Tart button (Papertrey Ink); patterned paper (K & Company-Itsy Bitsy)

This clean and simple card features the tennis racquet image that comes in the set. I stamped the racquet on a white circle, then stamped the tennis ball on a separate scrap of paper. I colored the ball, cut it out, and added it to the racquet with a dimensional.

I used a piece of grid patterned paper underneath the image panel, matching the grid pattern on the tennis racquet. The sentiment is on a punched out circle, embellished with a simple ribbon tab.

Materials Used:
Tennis Darling stamp set (Clear & Simple Stamps); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); Snow White Choice Cardstock (Taylored Expressions); markers (Copic); New Leaf Palette ink, New Leaf and Lemon Tart cardstock (Papertrey Ink); Basic Gray cardstock, dimensionals (Stampin’ Up!); patterned paper (Colorbok-Friendly Forest collection); 1” and 1 ¼” circle punches (EK Success); Zig Zag Stitch border punch (Fiskars); circle dies (Nestabilities); white grosgrain ribbon (Michaels)

And, here’s a great gift idea for tennis players. I found an inexpensive baseball cap at the craft store and stamped on it to create a tailor-made gift. I found that Palette inks work nicely on the fabric (and on ribbons, too). They give a crisp image and dry quickly, too.
The rest of the CSS DT will be showing off sneak peeks of other sets from the Summertime collection that will be released on July 15. Be sure to take a look around! Links to their blogs are in the sidebar on the left.
