Blogger Challenge: Week 111

This week’s blogger challenge was a color combination featuring two of SU!’s new In Colors, Crushed Curry and Soft Suede, and Old Olive, along with a neutral. I used a layout that I used for a swap for last year’s SU! convention to create a new card for this challenge.

Since the colors had a fall feel to me, I used the new SU! Falling Leaves set for my card. I stamped the maple leaf (I think that’s what this one is) image twice in Crushed Curry and the oak leaf (again, I think that’s what it is) in Soft Suede on Very Vanilla cardstock, then used my 1 ¼” square punch to punch them out. I layered them on slightly larger cardstock squares, then attached them to a piece of dotted paper from the Thoroughly Modern DSP pack.

I stamped the “{grateful}” sentiment from the set in Soft Suede ink directly on the olive card base. It’s embellished with a single antique brass brad.

I liked this card so much that I ended up doing pretty much the same thing for a swap I brought to this year’s convention. I changed up the colors just a bit (swapped out Old Olive for Dusty Durango and Crushed Curry for More Mustard), but otherwise, kept the card just like you see it here.

For more ideas using these colors, you can visit the rest of the challenge players. Links to their blogs are in the sidebar on the right.

Materials Used (all from Stampin’ Up!):
Falling Leaves stamp set, Soft Suede and Crushed Curry Classic ink, Soft Suede, Crushed Curry, Old Olive, and Very Vanilla cardstock, Thoroughly Modern designer paper, 1 ¼” and 1 3/8” square punches, Soft Suede dotted grosgrain ribbon, antique brass brad

  2. I have a love/hate relationship with your card...love the colors and design but hate the reminder that fall is moving in so fast. I don't want to go back to school:(

  4. Wonderful card. Love the CAS look and I agree those colors work great for Autumn themed cards.

I love that set and thought about using it for the challenge too but did something different.
