New Nest

As soon as I saw this week's sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You, I knew just what I wanted to do with it. After working on this card for parts of two evenings, here's what I ended up with.

I started with the nest and a portion of one of the tree images from the DoodleFactory Into the Woods stamp set from Starving Artistamps. The image is colored with Copic markers and layered on a pair of circles to coordinate with the colors in the October Afternoon designer paper that covers most of the cardfront.

I added a coordinating solid cardstock panel, covered with a strip of grosgrain ribbon. The image panel overlaps the lower portion of this panel. I added a cheery matching bow to the top of the image where it meets the panel.

I used a fancy border punch to decorate the edges of the Kiwi Kiss layer underneath the patterned paper. It took a few tries to get the corner done right, but I really like how it looks. The sentiment is stamped directly on the patterned paper--it almost blends in, but it's there! If you want to get your hands on a set of these fun images for yourself, don't forget to use the code savetenLT to save 10% on this and all DoodleFactory and Starving Artistamps purchases at Starving Artistamps.

Materials Used:
DoodleFactory Into the Woods stamp set and Woods Sentiments set (Starving Artistamps); white cardstock (Gina K Designs); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Cool Caribbean Classic ink, Kiwi Kiss and Kraft cardstock, sponge, mat pack and paper piercing tool, (Stampin' Up!); Aqua Mist cardstock, Aqua Mist button, twine (Papertrey Ink); designer paper (October Afternoon); circle and scalloped circle dies (Nestabilities); green grosgrain ribbon (Michaels); border punch (Martha Stewart)
