Stair Stepping into the Forest (with Blog Candy!)

As soon as I saw the Chicken Girl Designs Into the Forest stamp set from i {heart} papers, I knew the images would be perfect for a stair step card.

I used a few different images from the set to create this fun scene. The trees are paper pieced using a piece of Sassafras Lass designer paper with a grid pattern. I colored the bear and squirrel images with Copic markers. After coloring the bear's fur, I dotted on some Copic colorless blender solution with a rag for a textured look. I also used a white pen to add some contrasting dots to the red bandana. I couldn't resist adding some sparkly flock to the squirrel's bushy tail, too.

I covered each of the card's "steps" with some textured looking Sassafras Lass designer paper. The scalloped "grass" was a last minute addition. The "Hello, friend" sentiment is stamped directly on the designer paper. I added some sparkly green ribbon, too.

Want to have one of the cute Into the Forest stamp sets for yourself? Kate's given me a set to share with one of my blog readers. Just leave a comment on this post for a chance to win the set. My random number picker (also known as my sister Jill) will pick a winner when she returns home from her vacation on Monday.

Materials Used:

other: white cardstock (Gina K Designs); Tuxedo Black and Rich Cocoa inks (Memento); markers (Copic); Bashful Blue cardstock, scallop edge punch, dimensionals (Stampin' Up!); New Leaf cardstock (Papertrey Ink)
