Cold & Cuddly Thoughts

I made this card for today's SCS sketch challenge using a set from the new SU! Holiday Mini Catalog, Cute & Cuddly. This set is just my style!

The polar bear is stamped using white craft ink. I picked a pale colored background so the bear would show up against the backdrop. I masked the bottom of the bear, then stamped the ice piece for the bear to sit on. A little Dazzling Diamonds is along the edges of the ice for a sparkly, frozen look. I added a small sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes to the panel to complete the scene.

I used a cool blue/purple color scheme for the rest of the card. The Bashful Blue panel on the card base is embossed with a polka dotted Texturz plate. Here's a little hint to get a better impression when you're using these plates--spritz the cardstock lightly with some rubbing alcohol before running the plate through the Big Shot. The alcohol makes the paper just a bit more pliable and evaporates more quickly than water would.

Materials Used (all from Stampin' Up!):
Cute & Cuddly and Teeny Tiny Wishes stamp sets, White Craft ink, Almost Amethyst and Basic Black Classic inks, Bashful Blue, Almost Amethyst, Lovely Lilac, and Brocade Blue cardstock, Brocade Blue Patterns designer series paper, SU! Patterns Texturz PlateBashful Blue grosgrain ribbon, silver brad, Dazzling Diamonds, dimensionals

  1. So cute, Lori! I'm loving all the blues surrounding the white polar bear.
