All Star Pair

Here’s a pair of cards featuring images from Melanie’s Just So Sporty and Sporty Accessories stamp sets from Gina K Designs. I had the sets out to work on a card for this week’s sketch challenge at StampTV, so I thought I’d make two instead of one. The images in these sets work so well for masculine/little boy cards and I always need those!

This one is for the sketch challenge. I stamped the different sports images at different angles on the white panel, the colored them with Copic markers. The baseball image is cut out and attached to the glove with foam tape for some dimension. There was enough room at the bottom of the panel to stamp the “all star” sentiment in blue ink. I paired the colored images with a piece of striped designer paper from KI Memories. It’s actually from a pet-themed paper pack, but worked great with my color scheme.

To keep with a masculine look and feel, I tied a piece of twill tape around the patterned paper panel before attaching it to the cardfront. I also added a trio of coppery brads alongside the image panel.

The second card borrows a layout I used a while ago for a Halloween card. I cut out each of the stamped and colored sports images and attached them to a light blue circle with foam tape. The circles are arranged on an orange panel, then attached to the cardfront.

The sentiment strip slides underneath the orange panel. I punched the edge with a star border punch before stamping the birthday sentiment and adding a single silver brad. The navy panel on the cardfront is embossed with the Cuttlebug Stars folder—the perfect match for an all-star themed card!
