S Is for Saturday and . . .

It's Saturday! Once again, I have few plans for the weekend aside from sleeping, shopping and stamping--along with a little college football and hockey viewing on TV. Cosmo the crazy dog and I have a "houseguest," my sister's dog Bella, so that's keeping him entertained and out of trouble, at least for the time being.

Diana shared a fun 3D challenge with us earlier this week on Paper Craft Planet. She challenged us to decorate a tin and fill it with mini cards. I have my take on the challenge to share today. It’s another piece from the ensemble I made using images from the new Cookie Bake set from Clear & Simple Stamps.

I covered a red tin I found in the dollar section at Michaels with festive holiday paper and some matching velvet ribbon trim. There’s a place for inserting a label, so I stamped the word “tags” on a scrap of white cardstock using the Bitty Alpha Modern set and slid that in place. The tin’s lid is covered in matching paper. I added a stamped snowflake element, accented with a button-embellished velvet bow.

Instead of making cards to go in the tin, I made tags that can be attached to gifts or baked goods. I kept the design the same on all of the tags for quick and easy production. The only thing that changed on each tag was the sentiment. There’s a great mix of sentiments in this set, so I had a lot to choose from. Each tag has a single stamped snowflake with a rhinestone center along with a bold red sentiment. What a fun gift to give!

Materials Used:
Cookie Bake and Bitty Alpha Modern stamp sets, ScorTape (Clear & Simple Stamps); Aqua Mist and Pure Poppy inks, Aqua Mist cardstock, Aqua Mist button, twine (Papertrey Ink); Real Red cardstock (Stampin’ Up!); designer paper (BoBunny-Tis the Season line); circle and scalloped circle dies (Nestabilities); red double stitched velvet ribbon (Michaels); self-adhesive rhinestone (Darice)

And, since it's Saturday, we have a new sketch challenge to share today at Paper Craft Planet. Wendy came up with this really versatile sketch for everyone to try.

I made this quick, masculine fall card using the new Autumn stamp set from Clear & Simple Stamps. I randomly stamped the acorn outline image in Chocolate Chip ink on the kraft card base, then went back and filled in the acorn with the matching solid image using Close to Cocoa ink stamped off once for a slightly softer look.

I cut a strip of striped patterned paper in fall colors to fit across the card and attached it to a solid mustard strip. The "nuts about you" sentiment is stamped on the mustard strip in Chocolate Chip ink. A piece of twill tape is tied around the card, covering where the solid and striped pieces meet.

We'd love it if you'd play along on these challenges at PCP and share your projects in our gallery (upload the 3D challenge with the keyword 3d33, the sketch with the keyword sk101709). Each week, we select a project submitted for each of our challenges to feature in our community newsletter. Your project just might be the one selected . . .

Materials Used:
Autumn stamp set (Clear & Simple Stamps); Close to Cocoa and Chocolate Chip Classic inks, More Mustard and Kraft cardstock, Chocolate Chip twill (Stampin' Up!); designer paper (DCWV's Indian Summer Fall Stack)
