Cherry Sweet

I have time for just a quick post tonight between periods of the US/Canada World Juniors hockey tournament championship game. I made this quick cheery card for Mercy's latest sketch challenge and this week's polka dot challenge at Crazy 4 Challenges.

The focal image is from Papertrey Ink's Everyday Button Bits stamp set. I stamped the cherry stem in Always Artichoke ink on a cream circle, then added a pair of red buttons for the cherries.

The cherry images are paired with two papers from the DCWV Farmer's Market Stack. I love the texture and colors in these papers, even though my tastes don't usually lean towards a country-ish style. I used a dotted paper behind the cherry image and a cherry patterned one to cover most of the artichoke card base.

I added a strip of kraft cardstock along the left side of the card--kraft goes with just about everything! There's a strip of red grosgrain ribbon along the center of the kraft panel. I decided against adding a bow. It seemed like it might be too much on this pattern-filled card. I did add an Apron Lace punched border along the edge of the strip for another pop of red.

The set's "you're so sweet" sentiment is stamped in red and matted on red cardstock. I used foam tape to place it on the card.

Okay, I'm heading back to watch the game, just in time for the second period. Go Team USA!

Materials Used:
Everyday Button Bits stamp set, Pure Poppy buttons, twine (Papertrey Ink); Real Red and Always Artichoke Classic inks, Real Red, Always Artichoke, Kraft, and Very Vanilla cardstock (Stampin' Up!); designer paper (DCWV-Farmer's Market Stack); circle dies (Nestabilities); Apron Lace border punch (Fiskars); red grosgrain ribbon (Michaels); foam tape
