Papertrey Ink Blog Hop: Button Up!

It’s time for another Papertrey Ink Blog Hop. This month’s theme is creative ways to use buttons. I use buttons on my cards all the time, so I challenged myself to come up with something just a little different for my blog hop project.

Here’s what I came up with. I made a simple magnetic memo board and used buttons as the magnets to hold all my important notes in place. The memo board is made from a metal frame I picked up a long time ago in the Target dollar spot. I traced around the edges of the frame to create a guide for cutting paper to size to cover the frame. I paired the new Hawaiian Shores cardstock with a piece of Green Boutique patterned paper for a fun look. The seam between the two papers is covered with a strip of Ripe Avocado ribbon. The “take note” sentiment from the Fillable Frames #1 stamp set is stamped on the solid cardstock section as a simple accent.

The button magnets are simply pairs of buttons stacked up and held together with some twine. I used Hawaiian Shores and Spring Moss buttons to coordinate with my color scheme. I found pairs that would nest nicely together and threaded the twine through the buttonholes, then knotted it securely. I attached a small magnet to the back side of the button so they'd stick to the metal frame. To complete the project, I added my very first note, using one of the cutouts from the Green Boutique paper pack.

Materials Used:
Fillable Frames #1 stamp set, Hawaiian Shores ink, Hawaiian Shores cardstock, Green Boutique patterned paper, Ripe Avocado stitched grosgrain ribbon, Spring Moss and Hawaiian Shores buttons, twine (Papertrey Ink); magnets; metal frame

  2. Yay a magnet memo board. I love seeing projects with ideas that are a little out of the box, I tend to be too literal. Great idea to make button magnets.
