Blogger Challenge: Week 148
This week’s blogger challenge is a color challenge that includes orange, blue, and moss. Since exact shades of blue and orange weren’t specified, I kind of went off a bit to coordinate this challenge with Verve’s release week color challenge that called for an aqua shade of blue. I also worked from this week’s sketch at 2 Sketches 4 You. I flipped it around just a little to get my version, but definitely included the elements from the sketch.
I used the beautiful flower from Verve’s Love’s Flower set as the focal image. This flower is so much fun to color! I colored it with Copic markers in several shades of orange and filled in the center with a pop of aqua. A tiny pearl sits at the center for an elegant touch.
I attached the flower to a part of a die cut piece. One of the set’s sentiments is stamped beneath the flower in coordinating aqua ink.
I used an orange floral paper with a shiny, varnish finish print on the left side of the card. The pattern is divided from the rest of the card by a big scalloped strip and a piece of grosgrain ribbon. If you look closely, you can see that each scallop is embossed with dots that follow the scallop’s curve—pretty detail! I topped it all of with a pretty button embellished bow.
For more projects using this color combination, you can check out what the rest of the challenge players have created. Links to their blogs are in the sidebar on the right.
Materials Used:
Love’s Flower stamp set (Verve Stamps); white cardstock (Taylored Expressions); Tuxedo Black ink (Memento); markers (Copic); Hawaiian Shores ink, Hawaiian Shores and Aqua Mist cardstock, Hawaiian Shores grosgrain ribbon, Orange Zest button, twine (Papertrey Ink); designer paper (DCWV-Cafe Mediterranean Matstack); Labels 9 die (Nestabilities); Double Embossed Dotted Lace border punch (EK Success); self-adhesive pearl (KaiserCraft); foam tape
