Earthy Gratitude

It's been a dreary, rainy day here--and of course, I had to take Chloe the cutie puppy to the vet. It never fails to rain when I have an appointment at the vet . . . Chloe needed a vaccination and I wanted to check out her itchiness. She's not itchy like Cosmo the crazy dog was with hot spots, but seems to scratch a lot. Turns out she has ear mites. Hopefully some medicine will put a stop to the itching soon. She weighed in today at 23 pounds--she's growing like a weed!

Here’s my card for Unity’s latest Hip Hop sketch challenge. It uses one of my early Unity purchases—and still one of my favorites—Gratitude=Joy.

I stamped one of the leafy images in green ink on a Nestabilities-cut circle, then added just the “gratitude” portion of the “gratitude=joy” sentiment using Rich Cocoa ink. The panel was sponged with some brown ink to soften the white and better match the colors I wanted to use for the rest of the card. To get the white border, I kept the Nestabilities circle in place while I applied the ink with a sponge. I layered the stamped panel on a kraft square, then on a pale green rectangle.

I machine-stitched the stacked panels to a piece of Basic Grey’s Origins designer paper. The shape of the stamped leaf image is a pretty close match to the leaf on the patterned paper. A pretty celery crepe ribbon is tied around the card. I used the Bow Easy to make the nice bow.
